Please forgive the trumpet blowing, but I have just had some very exciting news. The Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) have just reported that our journal, The Journal of Education Policy, has come out as the top journal in England, Europe and the rest of the world. This ranking is based on total citations and most crucially of all, what is known as the 'impact factor' (0.671). The impact factor shows not only citation, but how many take-ups of the article there are and what impact this has on policy. The journal is edited by myself at Brighton (with the invaluable help of Liz Briggs) and by Professor Stephen Ball at the Institute of Education, London.

Lest we get carried away, the journal actually comes 25th in the full world league table, the top 24 journals being American! However, I should point out that our Brighton journal comes a mere four places below the Harvard Educational Review (HER)!
